I hope and pray this message finds you and your
family well and in good health.
As the Master of the Lodge you are tasked to bring
Masonic Light to the brethren and as that would for
the most part seem like an easy task, it at times can
be quite daunting. You strive to enlighten but pray
your term or verse does not offend. You word and reword
in hopes that everyone understands your choice
of Light to be imparted. However, many times what
you wind up with is unreadable or even seemingly
caustic in nature and by right offensive to the Craft.
I recently and finally picked up a copy of Brother
Manly P. Hall’s The Lost Keys of Freemasonry and
on page 66 there it was, the statement that said it all
to me. ”Only those who have been weighed in the
balance and found to be true, upright and square have
prepared themselves by their own growth to
appreciate the inner meanings of the Craft. To the rest
of their brethren within or without the lodge their
sacred rituals must remain, as Shakespeare might
have said, “Words, words, words”.
For me brothers the reference of the words we use in
our ritual are but only part of what this quote offers,
it is as well a reminder that without your practice and
implementation of the Tenants of the Fraternity the
words, phrases and weight is lost. Thus, dooming the
brother(s) to lose out on the benefits of knowledge,
personal growth and morality.
I am interested to hear your thoughts on the topic so
please contact me directly at 201-575-9657 or e-mail
me at firstname.lastname@example.org subject Manly Hall, or
see me in person on any Wednesday at Eclipse Lodge
No. 259 dinner is at 6- 6:30. Be well my Brothers.
